Important Information for new Members

At the current point in the story (Quest 1: The Ship from Kirkwall. Quest Day 1) no new Wardens from Ferelden have been through the Joining. All Grey Wardens are coming from elsewhere on the Ship from Kirkwall. The Warden can have originally came from Ferelden but left before Ostagar. Initiates are being found all the time in Ferelden and taken to Vigil's Keep (or sent there) to prepare for the joining. We can discuss how to get the initiate into the main story after you are accepted.

User information

Name is what we can call you Out Of Character(OOC), you do not have to put your full name.
Year of Birth is required but the rest is optional.
Instant messenger is optional but makes OOC easier, please join the NDGaming Forums and put your username for that here.

Character Information

Name: The name can be anything you wish it to be provided it is a name and not something silly (i.e. Nigel Smellybottom). We do not except pre-existing cannon characters or their names. A Suffix are letters that are put after a persons name (i.e. PH.D) this is entirely optional.
Position: Please look at the Departments Page for details on positions, all available positions are listed in the drop box.
Species: All species must be canon and intelligent. I.e. Human, Elf, Dwarf and Qunari(Tal'vashoth). Half breeds do not exist in the Dragon Age Universe(to date of type), the closest is the child of an Elf and Human, but this child is still considered Human.
Age: All species in Dragon Age have a similar life span of around 77 years, this however can be extended with magic. Unless magic is involved try to keep it realistic (a great Warrior would not be 10 years old nor would they be 86).
Nationality is the nation or place of you characters origin, this can be Ferelden, Kirkwall, Orzammar, Dalish or any other location in Thedas.
Mage: If your character is a Mage select Yes if not select No
Appearance: After you've been accepted you can upload images for your character, this means you do not have to be too detailed in this section. Best to put their notable features such as scars and tattoos.
Family: The only rule here is you cannot be a direct relative of a Canon Character so you can't be the Father, mother, Sibling, grandparent, child or spouse of someone in the games. Distant relation is allowed. If you want to be related to a pre-existing character in the Simm you must ask permission from the player that controls them first , I will check before accepting any application.
Personality: Basic information on what your character is like, no more than a paragraph is required for this.
Strengths & Weaknesses: you need at least 1 strength and 1 weakness.
Personal History: Your character's history is important to who they are, this only needs to include major events in his life. If your character was involved in a major Event from the Dragon Age Universe please make sure the dates match up. The Simm starts 5 months after the Archdemon was killed. Although great detail in not required, This should be at least a couple of paragraphs and just having bullet points listing the major life events will not be accepted.
Service History: If your Character is or has been in a military such as the Grey Wardens or the City of Amaranthine Militia details of it can go here.
Fighting Skill: This is what your character is best at fighting with, in the RP you will be allowed to use whatever weapon you want or may be forced to but given a choice your character will always go for this.
Weapons: The weapon your character won't leave home without.
Combat Style: Some details on how they like to fight.

Sample Post

A Sample Post is required before you join, this is how a gage the level of skill you have in writing and in English. This does not have to be long but keep to the theme of 'You're on the road to Redcliffe when the Darkspawn attack'. If you have been referred to the site by another player please put their name at the end of the post in brackets(). The only people who will read this sample are the game masters.

Multiple PCs and NPCs

If you want to create another PC or a NPC please go to control panel and select the create character option. Do Not Join Again. As the Character won't auto link to your account please put your name in brackets() at the end of the Service History section.

If you wish to claim an unlinked NPC for yourself please contact me (Xen Stark, Mark, Starhawk2k) and I'll see what he can do for you.

Common Reasons for Application Rejection

We have rejected previous applications for the following reasons:

Too many Spelling and Grammar errors: We aren't too strict on spelling and Grammar here but there is a limit to what we find acceptable, to be safe I suggest you make your application in a word processor first and spell check it (or download an internet spell check) or proof read it before sending.
Unfilled bio sections: Only a few of the fields are optional (such as Service Record), most are not (physical description).
History field requires more detail: Two lines and Bullet Points will not be accepted for a PC character. See the Ammaranthine Census for accepted characters to see what is acceptable.
Wardens do not apply for the position they are chosen after proving they have the skill to become one: All canon seen suggests that Grey Wardens do not simply apply for the Job, they are chosen for having skill. In DA2 a character does become a warden because they are dying but this also seems to be as a favour to another Grey Warden. Also planning to have your character march into Vigil's Keep and demand to see the Warden Commander will not work.

Example Applications

For Examples of Applications that had been accepted simply view the Amaranthine Census and click on some of the Player Characters (Blue Dots). Most are done a bit differently but all were considered acceptable.
